Arts & Culture at Wittenberg

Arts and culture are alive at Wittenberg! Public talks, theatre productions, dance concerts, music recitals, ensemble concerts, art shows, and cultural festivals enliven the campus and the greater community.

Music

Theatre & Dance

theatre productionOne of only 23 institutions in the nation ranked by the Fiske Guide to Colleges for "Small Colleges and Universities Strong in Drama," Wittenberg consistently appears alongside such schools as Julliard, Vassar, Oberlin, Otterbein, and Princeton. Students regularly take advantage of the performance and production opportunities available.

The Wittenberg Series

All Wittenberg Series events are free admission. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the beginning of each lecture or performance. All facilities are accessible without climbing stairs.

Visual Arts

Empty BowlsStudents' creativity is unleashed in the university's spacious, well-lit studios, where students have access to equipment specifically designed for their chosen media area. Within short driving distance of some of Ohio's top metropolitan museums, Wittenberg also offers unique options for students to share their artistic talents with the community, including the annual fundraiser Empty Bowls, which raises more than $25,000 each year to fight hunger.

Arts in the Greater Community

Springfield has much to offer, in addition to own arts-rich environment: the annual CultureFest, the Summer Arts Festival, Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and The Springfield Center for the Arts at Wittenberg University, which houses the Springfield Museum of Art and Wittenberg's New Student Theatre and makes for a dynamic engagement with the arts close to campus. Admission is free to the Springfield Museum of Art for Wittenberg faculty, staff, alumni, and students and their families.
